Meet the Editors

My name is David Cox. My wife, Sharon, and I are the co-owners of Cox Editing Services. Together, we provide editing and proofreading services to help prepare your print and online content for publication.

I’ve devoted over 30 years to career roles that involve writing, copyediting, and proofreading. Since Sharon and I launched our business seven years ago, I’ve helped numerous clients improve their print and online written content.

In the last seven years, we’ve had the privilege of helping dozens of writers prepare their work for publication.

I was an executive assistant for over 30 years in secondary and higher education, rural telecommunications, and county government. These positions afforded significant experience in writing, copyediting, and proofreading.

Over the past five years, I have assisted with copyediting and proofreading two published books. I’ve also contributed my copyediting and proofreading skills to several magazine articles, hundreds of blog articles, and other website content.

Why We Enjoy Editing

There is something immensely satisfying about supporting an author’s work by applying an editing process to the material.

We can take an awkward sentence and help authors rephrase it. We do so to improve grammar and communicate ideas with greater clarity. We enjoy creating better flow in a chapter and strengthening a disorganized paragraph.

Moreover, we enjoy helping writers prepare their work for publication while amplifying the author’s “voice.” We find no greater professional satisfaction than to view a finished work after publication, knowing that we made a small but essential contribution to this effort.
